In my furniture, I have worked to design each part until it is reduced to an elemental from. Table legs were never left merely machined, but were shaped by hand with a final form in mind. In essence they were sculpted by a reductive process.

In my sculptures, I most often use a constructive process to produce minimalist forms based on shells, seed pods, and other pure if imagined forms. Once a form is established, then I can experiment with materials for the "skin" of the piece, and with textures and colors to enliven this surface and further define the form. Often the scale is outsized, and the detailing is abstracted. This is my way of personalizing the pieces, in hopes of finding new forms, and new statements.
