............................ COLLAGE | FURNITURE | SCULPTURE

The boxed constructions began as wall-mounted jewelry cabinets. I have always loved doors, arches and entries. I have photographed them in my travels and they serve as focal points for many of the pieces. They are all meticulously joined and one-of-a-kind. Techniques used include live-edged and polychromed wood, veneers, carving, patinated metals, gold leaf, collaged paper, found objects, and integral lighting. They are often narrative, using themes both personal and universal.

They involve the viewer when closed as sculpture and when opened reveal additional layers of meaning. Often, images from the past speak to me more clearly and truthfully than the contemporary images with which we are constanting bombarded. These vintage representations are often used with teh boxes as windows to other worlds.
